David Dastmalchian


David Dastmalchian is a Kansas native. He moved to Chicago to study theatre at The Theatre School, DePaul University, where he was able to perform throughout the city in everything from children’s theatre to experimental.After college, David took a break from acting to work as a professional fisherman, a writer and a shoe salesman. 

 

He returned to acting in 2006 and has become an ensemble member with Chicago companies Caffeine Theatre and Shattered Globe Theatre. Currently, he is living in Los Angeles and collaborating with a number of artists on new works for theatre, short film, features and the internet. David is incredibly grateful to the entire company of Sushi Girl and for the amazing experience of working on this project. 

 

“Working with Kern was a dream. He told me how he saw Nelson. I told him how I saw Nelson. We blended the ideas and then he just let me go with it. He tried a few different variations while filming that helped me feel more comfortable letting the “shit fly”, for lack of a better term.”
